Communication develops through experience — through the conversations we have, the messages we share, the way we listen and the situations we learn to navigate.
The ORB Communication Development Pathway is a practical and experiential communication development journey designed to strengthen confidence, clarity and effectiveness through practical learning, coaching, mentoring and real-world application.
The Communication Development Pathway is designed for people who want to develop how they communicate, not simply learn about communication.
It may be right for you if you are:
✔ wanting to communicate with greater confidence and clarity
✔ looking to understand your own communication habits and impact
✔ strengthening how you listen, ask questions and give or receive feedback
✔ navigating difficult or high-stakes conversations
✔ developing greater confidence in expressing your ideas and professional voice
✔ communicating and influencing when you don't have formal authority
✔ navigating communication through change, uncertainty or complexity
✔ ready to participate, reflect, practise and apply your learning in real situations
This isn't a programme built around simply completing content.
The Pathway combines structure with flexibility, creating opportunities to explore communication through practical learning, reflection, coaching, mentoring, discussion and real situations.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own communication experiences, questions and challenges into the development process, making each Pathway relevant to the people taking part.
The content provides the foundation. The experience creates the development. - Cheryl Williams 🌱
Part 1 — Understanding & Being Understood
Develop greater awareness of how you communicate, listen and respond, and communicate more consciously so that shared understanding becomes more likely.
Part 2 — Voice, Influence & Difficult Conversations
Develop greater confidence, clarity and influence when communicating in difficult, complex and high-stakes professional situations.
The Communication Development Pathway is available through selected open cohorts and for organisations seeking a dedicated development experience for their people.
Small groups create space for participation, discussion, reflection and practical development, while allowing the experience to remain relevant to the people taking part.
Organisational Pathways retain the ORB developmental structure while allowing the experience to respond to the people, situations and context of the organisation.
If you're considering the Pathway for yourself, your people or your organisation, we can start with a conversation about what you want to develop and whether the Communication Development Pathway is the right fit.
